Open Question: Is this legally correct or is it a lie?

He said that we don't both need to attend court for the divorce. He lives in Minnesota. I live in Missouri. We haven't seen one another in years but have been married 14 years. No children. Nothing to divide. Everything agreed. He sent the petition(divorce) papers for me to fill out my information and to get them notarized. I did that and sent them to him and now he's going to file them with the county court house, Hennepin Minnesota. He said that neither him or me will have to attend for the divorce. Is that true?...
